2012 Call for Proposals for Korean Studies Promotion Program

Korean Studies Promotion Service in the Academy of Korean Studies announces the 2012 new project application support plan for three Korean Studies Promotion Program, 1) Laboratory for Globalization of Korean Studies, 2) Overseas Leading University Program for Korean Studies, and 3) Overseas Korean Studies Incubation Program.

 

 1. Program Objectives

– Enhancement of competitiveness of Korean studies through support and management of relevant research
– Spread of Korean culture in foreign countries through provision of support for foreigners engaged in Korean studies and training of relevant human resources
– Enhancement of the infrastructure for Korean studies such as archives and reference materials
– Contribution to the enhancement of national brand value through spread of Korean studies
– Provision of the source for knowledge reproduction and establishment of the original research theories through development of Korean studies foundation research

 2. Support Details of Each Program

2.1. Laboratory for Globalization of Korean Studies
– Budget for New Projects: 600,000,000 KRW
– No. of Projects to be selected: 2 projects
– Budget per Project: 300,000,000 KRW
– Support Period: 5 years (3+2)
– Target of Support: Research team (Distinguished scholars in Korean Studies as well as in other academic areas)
– Application Period: 10:00 AM on April 23, 2012 (Mon.) ~ 5:00 PM on April 27, 2012 (Fri.)

2.2. Overseas Leading University Program for Korean Studies

– Budget for New Projects: TBA (around May 2012)
– No. of Projects to be selected: TBA (around May 2012)
– Budget per Project: 200,000,000 KRW
– Support Period: 5 years (3+2)
– Target of Support: Overseas leading university for Korean studies (graduate degree programs, more than 2 full-time Korean Studies staff required)
– Application Period: 10:00 AM on August 1, 2012 (Wed.) ~ 5:00 PM on August 7, 2012 (Tue.)

2.3. Overseas Korean Studies Incubation Program

– Budget for New Projects: 1,075,000,000 KRW
– No. of Projects to be selected: 21 projects
– Budget per Project: 50,000,000 KRW
– Support Period: 3 years
– Target of Support: Professors and researchers at local universities or research institutes
– Application Period: 10:00 AM on April 23, 2012 (Mon.) ~ 5:00 PM on April 27, 2012 (Fri.)
