The Kyujanggak Insitute for Korean Studies would like to invite applications for its fall 2012 fellowships. The fellowships provide Korean Studies researchers with the opportunity to use the Kyujanggak collection as well as other resources at Seoul National University to carry out their research projects.
The deadline for applications is May 10, 2012, and appointments should start in September or October 2012.

Postdoctoral Fellowship 2012-2013, Australian National University
The Korea Institute at the Australian National University is offering a two-year postdoctoral fellowship focusing on any one of three possible areas of investigation: 1) the politics of Korea, with a focus on modern and contemporary developments; 2) the economics of Korea, including Korea’s global involvement in multilateral issues; or 3) the security of the Korean peninsula within the East Asian context.
The fellowship is for a fixed term of two years, beginning in August 2012. Applicants must have his/her PhD completed by the time of appointment. Native or near-native fluency in both Korean and English is required.
The successful applicant is expected to 1) actively engage in research while participating in various forums and seminars on campus, 2) teach one course related to his/her research interest at some point during the two-year period of the fellowship, and 3) accept some administrative responsibilities in planning events on campus such as the Korean Studies lecture series.
The successful applicant will be eligible for a salary package of A$80,000-85,000, plus 17% superannuation. The closing date for applications is 15 December 2011.

ARI Fellowship Program for Northeast Asian Studies
The ARI Fellowship Program for Northeast Asian Studies is designed to provide scholars and doctoral candidates of foreign countries with an opportunity to carry out research on topics related to Northeast Asia at the Asiatic Research Institute of Korea University.
Eligibility
Individuals in the humanities and social sciences who are currently engaged in Northeast Asia-related research and teaching activities are eligible to apply. The fellowship is not open to Korean nationals, except those with resident status in foreign countries. Priority will be given to scholars who have received their Ph.D. degree within five years of their application and doctoral candidates who have completed all academic requirements except the dissertation (ABDs).
Grant Period
The fellowship period is for up to six months and may begin any time between January 1st and December 31st. However, counting in the time required for review process, applicants must plan to begin their fellowship period at least one month behind the application deadline.

1. Economy-class round-trip airfare (only provided to those who are based overseas prior to the fellowship period)

2. Free accommodation either on or off campus.
3. Access to ARI facilities, including Korea University libraries, and a communal office to be shared with other visiting fellows.
2012 Korea Foundation Publication Support Program
To encourage the publication of Korea-related books in non-Korean languages, the Korea Foundation provides financial support for the publication of Korea-related books by publishers worldwide. 200 Korea related books in 18 languages have been published since 1999 with the support of the Korea Foundation.
As such, the plan for support for 2012 is specified as below; we ask prospective publishers to carefully review the guideline and submit the application accordingly.

Overseas and domestic publishers (Individuals are not eligible for program assistance)
Program Emphasis
1. Books on Korea related to such fields as the humanities, social sciences, or culture and the arts, in languages other than Korean.
